In order to exchange and introduce new ideas and fresh energy into the day-to-day affairs of its operations in the mining industry, Newmont Ghana Akyem Project has out-doored a new General Manager (GM) for Environment and Social Responsibility (ESR), Dr. Helen Mac-Donald.
The new GM, who took over from Mr. Robin Budden, holds a Doctorate degree in philosophy, and was formerly the GM for both Newmont Australia and Denmark Company in charge of ESR, because of dedicated service.
Speaking to a cross-section of media practitioners in Koforidua, Dr. Mac-Donald pledged her outfit's preparedness to build mutual understanding, trust, a shared commitment to get it right, and a strong Newmont team.
She also expressed her appreciation to the staff of the company, particularly the Public Relations Department, about their knowledge and sense of maturity in handling issues concerning the company, and the community in which they operate.
She further assured personnel from the media, of her eagerness to support and contribute her quota to the development of the media in Ghana. On behalf of the media, the Acting President of the Eastern Regional branch of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), Mr. Edmond Quanoo, thanked the management of Newmont Akyem Project for recognising the media as bedfellows towards the development of the country.
That notwithstanding, he called on management to support the Eastern Press Corps with logistics, notably a vehicle and press centre, that would enhance and ensure quality journalism in the region.
