Sierra Leone: Communication Facility Poor at Kabala Police Station

The crime officer Kabala division covering some six chiefdoms, detective inspector Joe Edward Gbani, said the Kabala police station has very poor wireless communication set, making it difficult to know the state of crimes in nearby all the chiefdoms.

"Our police wireless set cannot cover these chiefdoms," he said. Transportation he said was another major problem facing the Kabala police station as most of the vehicles were not in good condition to withstand the police patrol at night and on emergency.

"The police and the elders in Kabala town are in partnership. In case of any problem they can inform us before time," he said,

Gbani said that crime rate in Kabala town was low because those found guilty for any crime committed have always been charged to court.

Ibrahim Jalloh, a bike rider said, "We ride our bikes here without any fear. The town is peaceful."

He said, "We are happy to see the police in Kabala doing all necessary work to help and see that Kabala is peaceful."

Abu Kamara a farmer said, "The town is safe especially for farmers who go out everyday."
