Kampala — Besides fielding a team in the 10km corporate challenge, Rwenzori Beverages have offered 2,000 cartons of water worth Shs15m to organisers of the MTN Kampala International marathon due November 23.
"It was a very nice experience last year and hopefully it will be better this time round," Rwenzori Beverages Sales and Marketing Manager Mohammad Mahboob Alam said while handing over the water to MTN Brands and Sponsorship manager Aggrey Kagonyera yesterday.
"Water is the most important thing for runners on competition day," Alam added at the press briefing held at the company's plant in Namanve.
"We donated 1,500 cartons last year and surprisingly there were full boxes after the race. But with the number of participants expected to increase this year, more water may be needed."
Registration fee for the corporate challenge is Shs0.5m with each team expected to field five participants.
The winning company is though expected to donate the cash prize to a charity of their choice. Inaugurated in 2004, the MTN marathon has become a very popular sporting as well as social event in Uganda.
