Tunisia: Goethe Institute in Tunis Celebrates 50 Years of Existence

Tunis — Tunis, October 23, 2008- The Goethe Institute in Tunis celebrates on Thursday its 50 th year of existence. The Institute which acts as a major cultural bridge between Tunisia and Germany, is also playing a major role in the dialogue of cultures between both countries.

The Institute which actively promotes the German language in Tunisia, is also strongly involved in the fields of culture, the arts, exact and human sciences but, also in fostering exchanges between German and Tunisian students.

On the occasion of the celebration of anniversary, 3 cultural events are fittingly scheduled to take place at the Khereddine Palace and at El Theatro.

A conference, a mini- jazz concert with the Berlin based duo Uwe Kropinski and Volker Schlott, and a photography exhibit on the theme "Distance and proximity", will entertain the many friends of the Institute who will no doubt show up for the occasion.

The photography exhibition will be opened to the public at large as of Friday and up to December 6, 2008, while the German jazz duo will give a lengthier performance at El Theatro, on Friday evening.
