Algiers — African ministers of Culture this Thursday analysed the need of creating methods and strategies to promote education and culture, as well as the elaboration of mechanisms for the implementation of cultural programmes and activities in Angola.
This analysis happened during the second conference of African ministers of Culture, in which Angola was represented by its incumbent minister, Rosa Cruz e Silva, and which ended this Thursday in Algiers, capital of Algeria.
Participants to the event defended that member states of the African Union should sign and ratify international conventions linked to the culture sector, including the UNESCO Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions and the
Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage.
They also analysed matters relating to the Historic Memory and Heritage of Africa, Culture, Vernacular Languages and Education, Cultural Rights, Freedom and the Intellectual Property Rights.
The meeting, which happened under the motto "Harmonising and Consolidating Cultural Policies, Programmes and Activities", aimed at assessing the progresses on the implementation of decisions and recommendations of the first session held in Kenya.
This event of the African Union was attended by various countries of the continent with highlight to Angola, Mozambique, Guinea Bissau, South Africa, Republic of Congo, DRC and Algeria as the host country.
