Angola: Official Calls for Greater Attention to HIV/Aids Positive Pregnant Women

Luanda — The director-general of National Institute of Combat against HIV/AIDS, Dulcelina Serrano, Wednesday here appealed to the health technicians and experts for more engagement in clinic supervision of HIV/positive pregnant women, in order to ensure the baby is not infected.

Dulcelina Serrano made these statements at the closing session of the meeting on "Updating of Conducts of Vertical Transmission Programme", started last Tuesday, at the National Museum of Natural History, in Luanda.

According to the official, the HIV-infected patients who have access to the primary health services and pre-natal immunities should deserve all attention by clinic body, to prevent the baby from being infected.

The event was aimed at upgrading the professionals associated to the Prevention of Mother-to-child Transmission Programme (PTV).

The participants discussed themes like "Presentation of the situation of PTV in 2008, "Updating of technical conduct", "Strategies to improve the adhesion", "Presentation of partners work in the community", among others.
