Luanda — The Angolan musician Dionísio Rocha said Thursday, in Luanda, that the reactivation of dance halls in Angola would bring new dynamics into the country's artistic movement.
Speaking to ANGOP, the musician explained that if entrepreneurs invest in the reactivation of dance halls, this will be reflected on the promotion of more music shows and, consequently, on the social improvement of artists.
According to him, the closure of most of the country's clubs in 1974, which worsened in 1992 due to the military conflict, contributed to the weak success of artists.
He also lamented that many successful dance halls during the decades of 1960 and 1970 have now been transformed into shops and warehouses, or are being used for other purpose.
With the disappearance of clubs, he explained, Angolan musicians have little options for performance.
Dionísio Rocha added that this situation is worsened by the insignificant number of promoters of cultural activities, who are fundamental elements in the divulgence of artists and arts.
