Luanda — The Angolan National Union of Artists and Composers (UNAC) will be gathered on Friday in the Natural History Museum, in Luanda, with its associates to approve the electoral rules, as well as set the date for the election of the new managing board of that institution.
Speaking to ANGOP this Thursday, the secretary-general of UNAC, Belmiro Carlos, said that the meeting will also serve to analyse and approve the report of activities and accounts related to the 2007/2008 period.
The occasion will also serve for associates to decide what statute will be attributed to the late chairman of UNAC, Teta Lando, as it is necessary to recognise his work.
The official also said that the current managing board has already chosen its candidate to replace the late chairperson, but his name was not revealed.
The current managing board is ready to materialise some of the projects designed by Alberto Teta Lando and reinforce the stability among the Angolan artists, such as defending ideals and goals outlined for the project which includes the government support fund for musicians with 30 years of career or aged over 60.
UNAC was established on 9 September 1986, after a national meeting of artists held in Luanda.
The aim of the institution is also, among others, the fight for professional integration and social edification of the Angolan artists and song writers.
