Somalia: Rival Groups Sign Landmark Peace Agreement in Djibouti

Mogadishu — Somali leaders signed a landmark peace agreement in at the conclusion of peace talks conference in Djibouti capital Djibouti later on Sunday.

Participants at the reconciliation conference included the chairman of the major opposition group Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed and the deputy prime minister of the government Ahmed Abdisalan as well as international community members led by UN special envoy for Somalia Ahmadou Ould Abdalla have entirely praised the Somali political sides over their efforts of signing peace agreement.

The agreed articles included the withdrawal of the Ethiopian troops from the residential areas on 5th of November and other articles we will submit you soon.

In his remarks, Sheikh Sheikh Ahmed thanked to UN for its support. He called for other groups opposed the agreement to come on the table, as well Ahmed Abdisalan said similar remarks.
