Angola: Disabled People Join Cooperatives

Luanda — At least twenty-five disabled people were integrated in a motorbike-taxis cooperative in Luanda, as part of a joint project of National Association of Angolan Handicapped (ANDA) and of Solidarity Cause.

Addressing ANGOP Friday, ANDA's chairperson, Silva Lopes Etiambulo said that the integrants of this cooperative have received motorbike-taxis and six tricycles.

According to the official, the coordinators of south and northern zones are busy monitoring the setting up of the productive cooperatives, aimed at inserting the disabled people into job market.

On driving school for disabled members, the official stated that the equipment have already been acquired with financial support from the Ministry of Public Administration, Employment and Social Security (MAPESS), that will soon open in Viana district.

He praised the government's attitude for approving the laws benefiting the handicapped people.

Founded in February, 1992, ANDA counts on 30,750 members countrywide.
