Angola: Libolo's Basketball Court Ready for Matches Next March

Luanda — The basketball court of the senior males team of Recreativo do Libolo, being built in Calulo locality, in the coastal Kwanza Sul Province, with the capacity of receiving 2000 people, shall start hosting matches for the national championship as from March 2009.

This information was given to ANGOP, in Luanda, by the head of the club's basketball department, Jorge Varela, during the draw for the next championship.

The source did not mention the amount of money spent or the construction company in charge of this infrastructure, but he assured that the population of Calulo locality will have the opportunity to watch good basketball matches after the conclusion of this sport ground.

In the first stage of the competition, to start on 28 November, Recreativo do Libolo, coached by Raul Duarte, will play their matches in Luanda.

The newly created basketball team hired players from renowned clubs, namely Domingos Bonifácio, Leonel Paulo, and Luís Costa, the three from Petro de Luanda, and Gerson Monteiro from a Spanish team, as well as Adilson Camacho, who played for a Portuguese team.

According to Jorge Varela, the team will also hire two foreign players, but he did not mention their nationalities.

Recreativo do Libolo will leave for Brazil this Sunday for a 20- day training programme, ahead of the national basketball championship, set to start on 28 November.

In the first round match, Recreativo do Libolo will play against Promade-Misto in the northern Cabinda Province.
