Uganda: Five Fronted for CEO Seat

Kampala — NAMES of possible replacements for suspended FUFA Chief Executive Officer Charles Masembe are already being floated.

Paliisa delegate Michael Okurut, competitions committee secretary Moses Magogo, former Cranes coach Mike Mutebi, sports columnist Aldrine Nsubuga and secondary school head teacher William Byuma are high on the list.

Masembe was on Wednesday suspended to pave way for investigations into allegations of forgery.

"Okurut is eastern delegates' darling. This group insists that its representation on the federation's top positions is not commensurate to their huge stake in the sport," revealed a FUFA source.

Okurut has twice complained to FUFA's general assembly about one region's dominance of the federation staff recruitment. "There should be some regional balancing," he advised the last assembly.

Nsubuga couldn't hide his feelings. "I have all the qualities for the job." He however hastily added that his ambitions are for a bigger assignment. "The day I go into FUFA it will be for the presidency," he revealed adding that for the moment his goal is to build his company Anfield Communications.

He however recommended former Cranes tactician Mutebi as a perfect candidate for the CEO job. "He has all the technical and administrative qualities. He is meticulous, articulate, apolitical, disciplined," said Nsubuga.
