Brazzaville — Angolan experts are since this Monday participating in the meeting that is preparing the VI World Forum on Sustainable Development.
The two-day preparatory meeting, taking place in Congo Brazzaville, is analysing issues like appropriate and balanced exploration of forests and hydric resources in the Congo Basin, which stretches from Angola to Cameroon, also covering countries like Burundi, Kenya, Central African Republic, Rwanda, Tanzania and Uganda.
The forests in this basin are the second "lung of the Earth", after the Amazon.
The forum, being held under the theme "Africa- Environment- Globalisation", takes place under the auspices of the Congolese President Denis Sassou Nguesso, who was special guest at the fifth meeting held last year in Paris.
The Heads of State and Government Summit is scheduled for 29-30 October.
According to a source from the Angolan Embassy in Brazzaville, the Angolan Head of State, José Eduardo dos Santos, might be represented at the gathering by the Planning minister, Ana Dias Lourenço.
The Environment minister, Maria de Fatima Jardim, is also due to arrive in Brazzaville to attend the ministerial meeting, to be held one day before the Heads of State and government Summit.
