Harare — THE big boys dropped points in the Zifa Eastern Region Division One league at the weekend leaving Highway still clinging to pole position.
But the focus was on little Frontier who lost one of their players when their team bus slammed into a stationary tractor as they returned home from a league match against Triangle.
Onesimor Muzondo, a Frontier player, died on admission at Chiredzi General Hospital.
Seventeen players were injured.
Club owner Obey Masenda confirmed the incident while team manager Tendayi Green said his club had been devastated so much they were not sure if they will now complete the remainder of their programme.
Leaders Highway were in Chiredzi where they were held to a 2-2 draw by Mkwasine with the home side scoring twice in the final five minutes.
Goals by the in-form Mike Bingadadi and Romeo Kabesha appeared to have given Highway all three points but Mkwasine fought back bravely in the dying stages to earn a deserved point.
Second-placed Eagles were also held to a goalless draw at home at Rudhaka by Mutare Farm Supply.
Hwange would have won the Southern Region championship had they beaten Zimbabwe Saints at home at the Colliery.
But our correspondent Paul Mundandi reports that Saints, as they did in their CBZ FA Cup preliminary round tie against Railstars, walked out of the stadium when the hosts were awarded a penalty in the 57th minute.
Now, Hwange will have to wait for the outcome of a hearing before they can start their celebrations.
