It was billed by the organisers to be Kampala's hottest party, and for the small crowd at Kyadondo Rugby grounds, the billing lived to its expectations as the East Africans music stars did their bit in the name of breast cancer awareness.
Despite the beer and muchomo that was in plenty, the cause of this celebration or Harree was all about breast cancer awareness. And this was not lost by the emcee of the night KFM'S Aisha Alibhai who kept on reminding the crowd which was mainly made up of Kenyan students, about the core intention of the mini-concert.
In her usual flirtatious style, Aisha engaged the crowd about breast cancer. "Give your breasts some TLC today," she said. And if the crowd were somehow lost in translation (for I saw some massaging their breasts), the KFM presenter became clearer, "Imagine Aisha without breasts?" she asked, which sent the crowd in fits of laughter.
The director of the National Breast Cancer Care Fund, Florence Mugisha, decided to take a sterner approach in her bid to raise awareness among the crowd. During her speech, she advised girls from the age of 20 years, to always go and have tests for breast cancer. She encouraged women to always have BSE-Breast Self Examination.
The performers of the night did their thing, with the likes of Wyre, Cindy, Amani, and Wahu not disappointing their fans, and the cause of the concert.
