Uganda: We Will Miss You Takondwa

He was the embodiment of calmness, sharing his cigarette with Ricco, as he waited for his fate. But TK had ridden his luck for sometime now, and this time round, the curtains closed for the wannabe rapper as he become the latest evictee from the Big Brother house.

He really had a colourful existence in the house. He was the first housemate to strip naked in the first week of the show, the only housemate who had two women vying for his attention (Sheila and Tawana), and the only resident in the house, who was nominated despite his being Head of House. And according to TK, it was this elevation to head of house, that caused his woes with the housemates.

"I believe when I became head of house, my problems started," said the Zambian. But I would like to disagree with TK. His being the head of the house was just a catalyst, not the root cause of his problems with his housemates. It was rather, his supposed arrogance, mixed with laziness, which irked the housemates to the core, that they just kept nominating him regardless of his head of house position.

He carried himself around like an African tribal chief. He sneered at the ridiculous Big Brother tasks, preferring at times to have a "power nap", while others enthusiastically got on with the tasks. He even showed no emotions whatsoever when Morris replaced him with Ricco - not even a thank you!

As far as Reality TV characters go, Big Brother unearthed a gem in the form of TK. He was truly something, with his chubby appearance, which he was never shy about (to the disgust of some "six pack" female addicts!) and his famous sweater, which is to be auctioned off by Big Brother, TK was one of a kind.

Ricco summed it up well, when he was returning to the house "TK are you listening? You have been the strongest competitor for me, and enough respect for you dawg," the Angolan said. And coming from someone who is most likely winning the money, the Zambian was a force to reckon with. Like Uti, the house will miss yet another interesting, enigmatic character.

By the way, wasn't it a masterstroke by Big Brother to introduce a new member in the house, the Cameroonian Richard Fandom? Its "Kofi Olomide meets 2Pac" a clash of cultures! Can't wait for him to have a pep talk with Thami about the need to laugh in public with "dignity", not like a hyena!
