Nigeria: 28 Nigerians Graduate From Bulgarian Varsity

Lagos — DR. Ali Inname, Special Adviser to the Sokoto State Governor on Scholarship and Students Matters, yesterday said that 28 indigenes of the state had graduated from a medical university in Varma, Bulgaria .

Speaking at a press briefing in Sokoto, Inname noted that the students were part of the 50 indigenes sponsored by the state government for the 5-year programme.

"The graduating students are only awaiting the convocation ceremony coming up by the end of this month as the department had settled all the formalities in respect of the graduation," he said.

The Special Adviser said that the remaining 22 students at the university would graduate next year.

Meanwhile, the Special Adviser said that the state government had spent N1.67million on assistance and scholarship to 20 indigenes studying at an Islamic University, in Niger Republic.

According to him, similar gesture was extended to 10 other students studying at the University of Medina in Saudi Arabia.

Inname said the department was also making efforts to secure admission for some indigenes in some federal schools.
