Sierra Leone: IIC Trophy at Stake

Freetown — The International Insurance Company (ICC) professional golf tournament would kick-off today at the Freetown golf club, Lumley.

A total of 14 professional golfers would battle in this much talked about four-day event as it would make the opening of the new season.

According to the golf Marshall, Sheku Bangura the competition would be more competitive as the players are all ready to prove themselves.

"I expect the boys to put up an outstanding performance in the competition as they've been training all this while. This competition would also mark the opening of the golf season," Bangura said.

Last season dominating stars, Brima Mansaray who recently competed in South Africa, Jerry Dumbuya, skipper Momodu Kargbo and Paul Kargbo are the favorites to grab the title.

However, experienced stars like Robert Williams, Kabba Kamara, Abdulia Kamara and Gibrilla Kamara are likely to upset the big names.

The14 professional golfers that would be competing include: Momodu Kargbo, Paul Kargbo, Brima Mansaray, Jerry Dumbuya, Abdulia Kamara, Mohamed Kamara, Gibrilla Kamara, Kabba Kamara, Alie Sesay, Osman Kanu, Felix Lebbie, William Robinson, Robert Williams and Alfred Bangura
