Luanda — The Italian ambassador to Angola, Torquato Cardilli, Wednesday expressed satisfaction over the exemplary manner and civic attitude shown by the Angolan citizens in the legislative polls held last 05 September.
The diplomat said this at the end of a meeting with the speaker of the National Assembly, Fernando da Piedade Dias dos Santos, to whom he presented congratulation greetings on his recently election, on 30 September, for the head of Angolan Parliament.
According to Cardilli, the disciplined way on how the Angolan people exercised their right of voting, after about 16 years since the holding of the first multiparty elections, constituted a major example for Africa.
He also reiterated his country's intention to attribute to the cooperation ties with Angola "a special step", in the light of the presidency of G-8 (Group of Eight most industrialised countries).
The Italian diplomat also said that during the audience with Fernando da Piedade, the two interlocutors analysed the possibility to strengthening the parliamentary cooperation ties, due to existing of a protocol signed between the two institutions, seven years ago.
