Luanda — The ongoing situation in the eastern region of Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) topped Tuesday's audience the Angolan head of State, José Eduardo dos Santos, granted in Luanda to the Congolese minister of International and Regional Cooperation, Raymond Tshibanda.
"On behalf of my president, Joseph Kabila, I came to brief the Angolan head of State on the latest developments of the ongoing situation in the eastern region of DRC, that has become worrying", the Congolese diplomat told the press at the end of one-hour meeting with President dos Santos.
"Actions carried out by the armed rebels still continue causing death toll and displacement to the safest regions", stressed the minister, who added that the situation should concern the international community and, mainly the bordering countries. That is why it is necessary to brief the President José Eduardo dos Santos, the leader of a member country of the Southern African Development Community (SADC).
According to him, the rebels benefit from a clear and unequivocal assistance from some regional countries, still denounced Raymond Tshibanda. "I came to ask President José Eduardo dos Santos' support, with view to put an end to the difficult situation, for the preservation of sovereignty of DRC", he said, without specifying the kind of assistance.
He also emphasised that the political personality that President José Eduardo dos Santos has already conquered throughout the continent and in the world, in general way, can contribute to the positive resolution of the current crisis.
