Luanda — The Angolan Family and Woman Promotion minister, Genoveva Lino, said this Tuesday in Luanda, that the women's participation in different programmes of the country, will guarantee an accelerated and sustainable development for Angola.
Speaking during the opening of Woman and Peace Forum, promoted by the Female Platform in Action, the government official said that "women should not be afraid. It is necessary to participate ahead for an accelerated and sustainable development.
For this effect, the official said that it is necessary for the female class to be engaged in the construction of "a new nation", working with dedication equally with men.
Genoveva Lino highlighted women's role in the process of peace and electoral, reminding that they were placed at the polling stations, voting desks and mobilised the families for voting held last 5 September.
"My assessment is very positive. It was visible the participation of women in all electoral process, since the citizens' registration until the voting day ", Genoveva Lino reminded.
Regarding the forum, the official said to be a praising initiative, as it will allow the participants to discuss their problems and assess their level of intervention in the country's political, economical and social sphere, as well as the strategies to better defending their rights at their institutions.
Woman and Peace forum, to end this Tuesday, aims at reflecting on the post-election context and women's contribution to maintenance of peace and the socio-economic development of the country.
The Woman Platform in Action is a forum of civil and political society organisations turned to the reinforcement of female capacities in the public and political life of the country, aimed at gender equity.
