The Taifa Stars are scheduled to play a friendly match against the African champions, Egypt, on November 19 in Cairo.

The Tanzania Football Federation secretary general, Fredrick Mwakalebela, confirmed yesterday that the team would leave for Cairo three days before the match.

The friendly will enhance the teams' preparations for their Championship of African Nations (CHAN) final round qualifier against Sudan, which will be played on November 29.

CHAN is a tournament for players who feature in domestic leagues and its finals will be played in Ivory Coast early next year.

The match was initially scheduled to be played in Dar es Salaam but the Egyptian FA opted for the home turf to enable Al Ahly players feature in the match as they would be unable to travel due to Champions League commitment.

Taifa Stars head coach Marcio Maximo will announce his final squad on November 11 for a week-long training session.

"We hope the match will be the best build up ahead of

the encounter with Sudan.

It's a very crucial match after we missed out on the Nations Cup and the World Cup chances," said Mwakalebela.

The Egyptian FA promised to line-up a full-strength squad that will include their Europe-based stars.

Tanzania has never posted a victory against Egypt. The Stars played against Ghana in their last friendly encounter at the New National Stadium in Dar es Salaam in August which ended 1-1.
