Angola: National Plan Guarantees 320,000 Jobs

Luanda — The National Plan for 2009 defines actions aimed at creating 320,000 jobs next year, reducing unemployment rate to about 22,5 percent, ANGOP learnt from the Planning minister, Ana Dias Lourenço.

According to Ana Dias Lourenço, who spoke at the first ordinary Cabinet Council meeting chaired by President José Eduardo dos Santos, the government will focus more on improving the living standards of the people.

"Actions have been identified which might guarantee the improvement in housing conditions of the population, access to potable water, combat to the more endemic diseases and re-launching our economy", she explained.

The National Plan also includes tasks at macro-economic level, aimed at maintaining stability that Angolan economy has been recording lately.

According to Ana Dias Lourenço, for next year the National Plan has actions that enable to keep the decreasing tendency of the inflation rate. The set goal is to reach 10 percent.

The Government's National Plan for 2009, approved at the Cabinet Council session, foresees a growth in the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of about 11, 8 percent, supported by a growth in the non oil sector, expected to be of about 15,98 percent.
