Kampala — CECAFA sponsors GTV will sink sh997m into this year's Senior Challenge Cup that kicks-off December 30 in Kampala.
Council of East and Central Africa Football Associations secretary general Nicholas Musonye yesterday said that the money will cater for the air tickets, accommodation, prizes and other logistics for the 11-member-countries. The draw will take place in Kampala in a fortnight.
"We are confident that the tournament will be organised well and also attract more sponsors," said Musonye in a press brief, after meeting the local organising committee at Hotel Equatorial yesterday.
He also announced that a GTV team is in Uganda to market the annual tournament.
Uganda's organising committee will be headed by Jowali Kyeyago, who will also handle the finances.

Sam Ssimbwa leads his troops to battle against Express today, not only motivated by an army rank of captain but also an attractive contract.
Sources at the army base in Bombo say that Ssimbwa, recently awarded the honourary rank, is in the final stages of signing a new contract.
"I am focused. Express should therefore expect a beating," vowed Ssimbwa, who was recently linked to KCC and Nalubaale before the army side convinced him to renew his contract.
Ssimbwa will in Express be facing familiar opposition. Not only did he save the Red Eagles from relegation in 2006 but also led them to Kakungulu Cup victory in the same season.
KCC travel to Kakira in a match George Nsimbe must win to prove that the Lugogo side is back on the title course after three consecutive losses which forced sections in KCC to call for his replacement.
