Nairobi — AccessKenya Group will on Friday launch a partnership with Nakumatt to promote and sell the internet service provider's residential broadband product, Access@Home.
The move is seen as a means of increasing penetration of the internet for home users while rasing its payment channels for convenience.
Currently, the internet provider is using wireless, or WiMax, technology to provide home users with reliable service.
Already, the group has put in place 35 base stations around Nairobi and Mombasa.
"Given Nakumatt's reach into the population, this is a key partnership for us," said AccessKenya Group managing director Jonathan Somen.
"We feel that this product is complementary to our lifestyle range of products, an area of key focus for Nakumatt," said the retail giant's IT Director Sailesh Savani.
AccessKenya is also due to announce an offer for staff of its 2,200 corporate leased line to rope them into using Access@Home.
The offer with no installation fee for equipment, will give a 20 per cent discount on the retail price of the solution translating to a rate of Sh6,000 per month.
