The 13th sitting of Parliament opened in Dodoma early this week, touching on among other issues, the fate of the mining sector - a thorny issue by all standards.
The august House has been debating the latest report on the sector, which was prepared by the Mark Bomani presidential Mining Review Committee.
They have called for tough measures to be taken, including treading carefully on new mining deals or shunning them altogether.
As MPs continued with their deliberations in Dodoma yesterday, in Dar es Salaam a British Council monthly management forum was on, and the focus this time was the mining sector.
The key speaker at the forum, which brings together great minds and young professionals to discuss their expertise and experiences, this time heard from the key speaker, executive general manager Deo Mwanyika of Barrick Tanzania.
He articulated the miners' concerns over the way the Government is handling the sector.
Worth noting was his criticism of the Government's indecision on key policy change proposals.
After all, committee after committee has been formed to review the sector but their findings and recommendations have not been put to good use.
This, the miners argue, creates uncertainty, more so about the sector's future.
We hope this time, the Government will go all the way in implementation to avoid leaving the sector in abeyance.
Expecting death must be more harrowing than the death itself.
