The Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) President, Leodegar Tenga, said he was shocked by witchcraft beliefs exhibited in Simba versus Yanga match last Sunday.
He said that clubs must stop believing in witchcraft since victory can only come through hard work and good preparations and not otherwise.
During derby, Simba players Mussa "Mgosi" Hassan and Henry Joseph were yellow-carded for invading Young Africans goal to remove an amulet that was 'stopping them from scoring'.
They took the decision to remove a small strange substance after missing so many scoring chances.
But it was not clear who had planted the amulet in the nets since Simba also had used the goal area in the first half.
Meanwhile, the TFF boss said he was delighted by match excitement and the standard of football displayed.
"The teams displayed a very good game, every team had chances to win, but Young Africans were lucky and won the match," said Tenga.
Tenga also defended Victor Mwandike, who has been criticised for weakening Simba by flashing cards during the game.
"The players who were sent off deserved it, you are not allowed to assault your opponent on the pitch, Mwalala (Ben) and Abel (Meshack) were up in arms, it was a fair decision to send them off," said Tenga.
He also said he was impressed by a huge fan turn out and urged soccer followers to also do the same in other games.
