Kampala — Following a 5-0 Super League defeat to Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) on Wednesday, Sharing FC players charged at their coach Richard Kayira, consequently chasing him from the dressing room. The players also told him to keep away from the team.
The players, who claim they are fed up of losing by big margins accuse Kayira for poor team selection especially in that loss to two-time champions URA at Namboole. Sharing have also lost 0-6 to Villa and 0-5 to KCC in previous encounters.
"I have developed a strong feeling that this man (Kayira) is not a coach. Actually he is the reason we have lost all these games terribly. He only fields his friends," one player who feared to be named, said on Wednesday. The team is now divided with some players lobbying for assistant coach George Afidra to take full charge while others are backing Kayira.
Defender Musa Nuru with other players put Kayira to task to explain why he had left out some good players against URA. Sensing danger, Kayira sneaked from the dressing room before he could even address the team after the game.
First team players Byron Walugembe and William Egesa didn't show up for the game while second choice goalkeeper Bernard Luyiga who was expected to fill in for the absent number one, Pony Sebunya, was left on the bench in preference of third choice Francis Yiga. "It was not a right decision to field Yiga who had not played before," another player said. Kayira said that he had left early for another meeting.
