Luanda — The Ministry of Social Communication, Thursday in Luanda, considered that the technical revolution in the Angola Press Agency (Angop) has given the organ more visibility and customers.

In a message of congratulation sent to the agency, on the occasion of its 33rd anniversary, on October 30, the Social Communication Ministry states that this gain results from a perfect combination of efforts between the management and the professionals of Angop.

To the ministry, this represents a good indication for the new and undertaking stages of the process of modernisation of the media organs, in the light of the programme of the Government led by the head of State, José Eduardo dos Santos.

In the message the ministry also mentions the fact that many customers seek for national and international updated information published on the portal of the agency.

The congratulatory note mentions that Angop's 33 years of service represents the persistence to respond to one of the main purposes of the Constitution, that is the citizen's right to information in a transparent, objective and complete freedom way.

"Angop has been serving as an international source of information on the main realisations in the political, economic, social, cultural and Sporting fields that take place in the country and, as such, represents one of the basis for the consolidation of our sovereignty as a nation, as from the threshold of our independence," reads the message.

In the message, the ministry congratulates the management and workers of the agency, wishing the "Angop family" to continue taking part in the process of development of Angola, and success to all its members.

Angop was established in Luanda in July 1975, having released its first dispatch on October 30 1975.

It deals in gathering, processing and distributing news locally and abroad, based on an objective information of the national and international actuality.

It supplies, on point-to-point electronic connection, Internet, e-mail and other channels, news items to national and foreign media organs, on the basis of agreements.
