Luanda — The National Assembly (Angolan Parliament) might soon pass a law against violence within the family, with a view to fighting offences whose victims are often people accused of witchcraft.
This was announced Thursday in Luanda by the coordinator of the National Assembly's sub-commission on Family, Childhood and Women Promotion, MP Ana Mria de Oliveira, at the end of a visit to the child home, "Lar Kuzola".
The visit was mainly intended to comfort 22 children sheltered at Lar Kuzola, after they were rescued last week by the national police from religious sects.
The MP also spoke of the urgent need for the approval of such a law, in the face of rising sexual abuse against children, murder within the family and domestic violence.
