The gala night is on tomorrow at the Shimoni Grounds and according to the Chairman of the Pearl of Africa Music (Pam) Awards, Isaac Mulindwa all is set for the gala night.
"The sound has been tested, the lawns levelled and generally everything is in order. Parking is secure and we have made sure that there'll be security at every corner of the venue. Besides, the first 400 guests with bronze tickets will also get chance to park within the grounds, in addition to the VIP ticket holders," Mulindwa told It's Friday earlier this week, adding that they've had enough time to do the necessary preparations and rehearsals during the past one month.
Salif Keita will be the guest performer and he is expected to arrive in the country today. The 59-year-old is an internationally recognised Afro-Pop singer and song writer from Mali who boasts of a unique stage acts and he is recognised as the Golden Voice of Africa.
Salif Keita's music combines traditional West African music styles with influences from both Europe and the Americas, while maintaining a pronounced featured instrumentation of the balafons, djembes, guitars, koras, organs, saxophones, and synthesizers.
According to Mulindwa, Keita fits the criteria of the kind of guest artiste - someone who's been in the music industry within the African continent for a long time.
Gates open at 6p.m. and tickets are still on sale at the different Total fuel stations as well as Zain shops. Mulindwa cautions that it would be better for revellers to purchase their tickets at the mentioned outlets to avoid the long queues at the venue entrance where tickets will also be sold. General tickets go for Shs30,000, silver at Shs150,000 while the VIPs will part with Shs200,000.
