Namibia: Kingsley Tourney Postponed

31 October 2008

This weekend's Kingsley sponsored Invincible Football Club pipe opening tournament, which was to have taken place at the Khomasdal stadium is off, at least for the time being.

The organizers of the three-day competition, that was to have served as warm up ahead of the kick-off for the domestic league, resolved to postpone the tournament because of lack of interest by would-be participants.

Many clubs were reluctant to enter teams in fear of picking up injuries a week prior to the league kick-off.

All domestic league activities have been frozen over the last couple of months to allow the country's football authorities some space to renegotiate their package with the Namibian Football Consortium of Sponsors.

The prolonged negotiations were finally concluded last week and the ball will finally get rolling on the 7th of next month.

Though the organizers of the Kingsley tournament could not say precisely as to when the competition will be rescheduled - they could not rule out a date at the end of the first round of league activities.
