Ghana: Zumdick for Ghana Return?

AshantiGold will be looking to lure Ralf Zumdick from his Dortmund base and make him their new boss for the upcoming Ghana season.

The German is expected to arrive in Ghana next week for what AshGold sources tell KickOffGhana.com will be aimed at helping the club lay the proper structures for the coming season.

But ultimately he is the man they want in charge of the Miners who are keen to recapture their glory years when they went all the way to the finals of the African Champions League in 1997.

AshantiGold chief executive Herbert Mensah is keen to revive the former giants of Ghana football and is pulling all the stops in a bid to do that.

He said last week that ultimately he would get a Bundesliga coach in charge of the team and Zumdick appears to be the one.

The 50-year old looks the logical choice after an early spell here at the turn of the new century.

He took charge of Kumasi Asante Kotoko and guided them to the Cup Winners Cup final in 2001 before coaching King Faisal as well as the Black Meteors and the Black Stars for a brief spell.

Serbian Momo Medic is presently in charge of the AshantiGold first team.
