Windhoek — Prime Minister Nahas Angula will next Wednesday officially open an all-female art exhibition at the National Art Gallery of Namibia in partnership with the European Union, a statement from the organisers said.
Anita Steyn, Aili Mvula and Melia Magobelilo are going to showcase their artworks at the Europe House.
Anita Steyn was born in Mariental and paints in oil, acrylic, water colour, graphics, multi-media works, fiber art, ceramics, textiles prints and draws in various media. She draws and paints in charcoal and coloured pencils. Her work speaks to the audience and gives the viewer an opportunity to be part and parcel of the world of art.
Her landscape paintings and drawings function as a framework for her artistic language. Steyn's thoughts reveal the conscientious of the art language.
Melia Magobelilo started working 10 years ago as a textile artist. In 1999 she was sent on a programme by the National Art Gallery of Namibia to study textiles in Nigeria. Her inspiration comes from working hard every day and teaching young people textiles.
Aili Mvula is a young up-coming artist, who works with cardboard prints and textiles. Her art work depicts the variety of her cultural background. She is currently studying at theJohn Muafangejo Art Centre and is in her second year. Mvula gives vision to other young artists to work hard and develop their skills.
