Ghana: UBA Outdoors 'Moneygram Redshop'

United Bank for Africa (UBA) Ghana Limited, one of the fastest growing banks in Ghana on Thursday, in Accra, unveiled its Moneygram service, an innovative programme of sending and receiving money from abroad.

Known as the 'UBA-Moneygram redshop', the innovative concept provides dedicated service to recipients of Moneygram transfers. It constitutes a separate banking hall within its designated branch locations to carry out Moneygram transactions.

The redshop is predominantly Moneygram branded, making it distinct from that of the banking halls.

The Chief Operating Officer of UBA, Ghana Limited, Sanusi Mudasiru in his explanation on the brain behind such an initiative, said the Moneygram was set up purposely to retain and maintain customer traffic levels in the banking halls, to focus its attention on efficient customer service due to dedicated service that excludes other core banking activities and also to increase transactional volumes by providing customers with convenience, speed and ease.

The Moneygram service operates in all UBA branches throughout the country but the redshop service is currently operating in three (3) strategic high value pay branch locations namely -Madina, Ring-road and Abossey-Okai.

According to Sanusi, the three branches were selected because of their closeness to ideal target market of receivers, visibility at street level and visit rates. He said the innovative service would be replicated in some of its new and upcoming branches throughout the country.

With a maximum of five minutes of collection period to receive money, customers are guaranteed to spend less time in retrieving their monies, especially during festive occasions.

The Executive Director of UBA, Ghana Limited, Daniel Addo noted that his outfit would continue to consolidate its reputation as an originator in the Ghanaian banking industry, with innovative banking products and services to satisfy its cherished customers.
