Ho — The Regional Minister, Mr. Samuel Kofi Dzamesi, has swiftly responded to a call by the family of Sako, father of three physically challenged children, to come to the assistance of his wards, who had been paralyzed from birth, and have found it very difficult to move about over the years, by providing them with a wheelchair each.
The three children, Bessah Sako, 15 years, Nane Sako 10, and Afi Sako 9, of Tokpo in the Ketu-North District, until last Tuesday, could not move from one place to the other, a situation which made it difficult for their parents, Mr. Koku Sako and Madam Ametor Gavor, to engage in any meaningful economic activities all these years.
The fourth person, Husunu Ativor of Ative in the same district, who has also been in the same condition for the past twenty-four years, was also provided with a wheelchair, to enable him and the other beneficiaries to move about freely in their respective communities, and contribute meaningfully to the socio-economic development of their areas.
Presenting the wheelchairs on behalf of the Minister, an officer at the Volta Regional Coordinating Council (VRCC), Mr. Atta Kuejoh, said the presentation was a personal assistance to the people, after their parents made appeal to him for support, when Mr. Dzamesi visited the Tokpo community.
Mr. Kuejoh said the plight of the children over all these years, was of major concern to the Minister, and said Mr. Dzamesi was prepared to give the needed support to the less privileged in the area, particularly in the area of education, and stressed the need for parents to take good care of their children, since they were the future leaders of the country.
The father of the three children, Mr. Koku Sako, thanked Mr. Dzamesi for the assistance given to his family, which he noted, would go a long way to support them, adding that was why the children could not attend school, but with the support given, the children could now go to school.
