Kenya/Rwanda: KCB Lions Go Down to Rwanda's APR in Fiba Zone Five Games

Nairobi — APR Rwanda defeated KCB Lions 66-56 to shut them out of the Fiba Africa Zone Five club championships title race in Ethiopia on Thursday.

The loss meant that the best KCB Lions can finish is runnersup in this matches which are being played on round robin basis.

After settling for a 11-11 first quarter score, APR under the tuteleage of Kenya's Cliff Owuor engaged a higher gear and were no where on sight taking the ensuing quarters 20-18,15-12 and 19-15.

Another Kenyan team United States International University(USIU) flames finished runnersup in group B when they lost 83-80 to Kampala City Commision in a decisive match.

KCC won the first quarter 25-11 but lost the second 13-37 to USIU who led 48-38 at the break.

Defending champions KPA however maintained their winning ways with an emphatic 100-31 victory over Etho Investement while APR Rwanda women also registered a century mark with a 105-41 win over government Housing Agencies of Ethiopia.

Earlier on Wednesday, Kenya teams Kenya Ports Authority women and KCB Lions men were made to struggle before registering a slim one basketball win over their opponents from Rwanda .

KPA women who are the tournament defending champions had the buzzer to thank for their 57-55 victory after APR Rwanda who trailed in the first half turned on the heat in the second half where the dockers had very little to offer.
