Uganda: Passengers Arrest Drunk Bus Driver

Masaka — ANGRY passengers, on Tuesday, arrested their bus driver over speeding. The enraged passengers accused Issa Nsubuga, 28, of drunk driving and endangering their lives.

Nsubuga, driving a Kasese-bound Jussy Coach, raised suspicion when he hurled obscene words at the passengers after they asked him to slow down.

"It's wise for the public to raise the speeding concerns," Masaka Central Police liaison officer Vincent Mutalemwa said while confirming the incident. Mutalemwa said the offending driver was handed over to Kinoni Police Post and later transferred to Masaka Central Police.

This is the second time passengers are reporting cases of over speeding buses along the Masaka-Mbarara highway.

A district councillor and secretary for finance, Eddy Ssansa, recently filed a case of a speeding Kibungo bus, which was later intercepted by the Police in Masaka.

Mutalemwa advised the public to alert the Police whenever such scenarios arise.
