Kampala — THE cover price of The New Vision newspaper will, effective Monday, go up by sh200, bringing the new price to sh1,200 from sh1,000.
Prices of Saturday Vision and Sunday Vision will on the same day follow suit, going to sh1,500 per copy from sh1,200.
The increment, according to sales and marketing manager Tony Glencross, has been prompted by a rise in operation costs.
"The price of paper has increased by 25%. The cost of ink and other materials has also gone up as well as the cost of delivering newspapers," Glencross said on Thursday.
"This is a position we did not want but have found ourselves in," he maintained, adding that the cover prices had not gone up in the past year.
Despite the increase, Glencross pledged that the company would keep the standards it has set, citing the recently enhanced inner sections of The New Vision to ensure value for money.
Glencross also disclosed that the Thursday newspaper would be improved towards the end of the year.
"We ask readers to continue supporting us because we are the best news value provider."
