Kampala — FORMER Commonwealth steeplechase champion Dorcus Inzikuru is seeking financial help from President Yoweri Museveni to prepare for the World Cross Country championship.
The track star needs sh9m to prepare for and participate in the event due next year.
The event will be Inzikuru's first in a return to the track after taking a break that enabled her deliver a baby.
Inzikuru's plea for assistance came as National Council of Sports (NCS) general secretary Jasper Aligaweesa advised the runner to expedite plans to return to international action.
The Arua ace embarked on training at camps in Bukwo in Kapchorwa and in Kenya recently.
Aligaweesa sounded the advice at his Lugogo office where Inzikuru had gone to seek a recommendation letter for Presidential help.
Aligaweesa said, "I cannot stop you from going to the camps for training but you should ask your coach and manager to get you races in Europe."
"The races will help you gain exposure and recover quickly either than concentrating so much on training," Aligaweesa added.
Aligaweesa also advised Inzikuru to make use of her manager and coach when laying out her future programes.
