Angola: MPLA's Action Committee in Stockholm Praises Government's Efforts

Stockholm — Militants of the Angolan ruling MPLA party's action committee in Stockholm, Sweden, Saturday praised the efforts made by this African country's government led by President José Eduardo dos Santos, focussed on the maintenance of peace, national reconciliation, strengthening the democratic system, as well as political, social and economic stability.

ANGOP learnt from a press release issued by this committee that party militants expressed this stand at the end of a meeting aimed at analysing internal issues, as well as the organisation and functioning of the party's structure in this Nordic country.

Participants to the meeting, presided over by MPLA's first secretary, Amaro Pombal, hailed the ruling party's leadership over its victory in the September legislative elections and congratulated the new government appointed and sworn in by the Head of State, José Eduardo dos Santos.

They also lauded the investiture of the 191 new MPs of MPLA to the National Assembly (parliament).

Political and ideological condition of militants, payment of quotas, the integration of members, creation of the community committee in Sweden, set for the first half of 2009, were also debated at the gathering.

They were also briefed on the country's socio-economic situation, the process of national reconciliation, among other matters.
