Luanda — The fulfilment of the demands of the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) for the end of the interdiction of the Cidadela stadium and the management of the main pavilion made the minister of Youth and Sports, Gonçalves Muandumba, pay a visit to that infrastructure, in Luanda.
Speaking to the press after meeting with the management board of the sports complex, led by Sebastião Francisco "Tião", and visiting the football stadium, the three pavilion, Palanca hotel and the Sports Medicine Centre, Muandumba affirmed that, following the explanations he received and from what he observed, he felt satisfied.
He referred that the demands of FIFA are being met in what concerns the improvement of the football stadium, including the repairing of the gates, for better security, improvement of bathrooms and installing piped water.
Minister Muandumba said that he his aware of the difficulties and the limitations to the fulfilment of a programme of maintenance and preservation of the stadium that, in his opinion, needs a better utilisation in order to obtain profits, according to its social goal.
The main pavilion also caught the attention of the official. Regarding the venue, Gonçalves Muandumba affirmed that the management of the venue was analysed, following the investments made by the state in the light of the African basketball championship, Afrobasket2007.
The minister was accompanied by his deputy, Albino da Conceição, the secretary general, Paulo Maria Augusto, among other senior staff of the Ministry of Youth and Sports (MJD).
