Kampala — EMMANUEL Kato finished fourth overall in the Super Special stage of the KCB rally while defending champion Riyaz Kurji's car suffered a computer problem yesterday.
Katto, making a comeback in the Kenya series, cleared the 1.4km Kilifi event in 55 seconds.
His compatriot Kurji, eyeing a rare hat-trick of wins, suffered a disappointment when his N10 Subaru got a computer problem.
Kurji will have to erase a 6.36 minute penalty going in the race proper today. He got a 5-minute penalty plus the time of the slowest driver in the stage.
A dejected Kurji said: "I will try to work hard to close the gap on the top drivers."
Katto said, "The first two sections tomorrow (today) will give us an indication of what to expect."
"I will be going flat out and there are no two ways about it."
Car number one of Carl Tundo navigated by Baldev Chager was in the lead after a time of 53 seconds.
