Angola: Education Minister Analyses Reconverting Teachers' Categories

Luanda — The minister of Education, António Burity da Silva Neto, on Friday here met with heads of education trade unions in order to assess the implementation rate of the process of updating the status of reconverting teachers' categories.

During the meeting, marked by the absence of the Teachers' Trade Union (Simprof), for unknown reasons, the minister of Education gave detailed information on the ongoing process of updating categories, as well as the technical measures that will enable to correct likely errors.

On the other hand, the unions' representatives considered that the process of updating categories as positive, in general.

According to them, explanations were also given about payments in management positions of education institutions and teaching collaboration, whose management also involves provincial governors.

Apart from the minister and unionists, the meeting was also attended by the deputy ministers of Education, Pinda Simão and Narciso Benedito.
