Angola: Territory Minister Calls for Assistance to Govern Malanje Province

Malanje — The minister of Territory Administration, Virgílio Fontes Pereira, called for the collaboration of members of the provincial government and of the population to identify the main problems of the region, in order to solve them and develop the region.

Fontes Pereira was speaking during the ceremony of introducing the provincial government, Boaventura Cardoso, to staff of the government and the civil society, having expressed his readiness to help in the development of Malanje province.

In his speech, the official stressed the experience of Boaventura Cardoso, as an ambassador and minister of Culture, hoping that this contributes to the solving of problems of the province.

On his turn, Governor Boaventura Cardoso said that he will do everything to meet the goals of the central government.

Speaking about the ruling MPLA party's governance programme, presented to the population during the electoral campaign, Boaventura Cardoso considered the sectors of education, health, energy, water and the rehabilitation of roads as priorities.

On his turn, the outgoing governor, Cristóvão da Cunha, thanked for the contribution of members of the government of Malanje province and expressed his availability to continue working towards the development of various sectors of the region.

The ceremony ended with the handing over of portfolios to the new head of the government of Malanje province.

The minister of Territory Administration left for the northern Uíge province, where he will introduce the new governor, Mawete João Baptista.
