Africa: Angola Reaffirms Engagement in Resolution of Conflicts in Africa

Luanda — Angolan Foreign Affairs minister, Assunção dos Anjos, Thursday here reaffirmed the country's commitment and contribution to the resolution of conflicts and the consolidation of democracy in Africa.

Speaking at the presentation session to the diplomatic body accredited in Angola, the Cabinet minister stressed that this will be among the priorities of the Angolan diplomacy in cooperation with other countries, mainly those of the region where Angola is integrated.

According to Assunção dos Anjos, the many years of armed conflict brought to the country experience that contributes actively to the resolution of conflicts in Africa, due to the sustainable development of the continent.

The country will rely on the contribution of strategic partners from different continents with which the country enjoys cooperation ties, said the top diplomat, who recalled that Europe has also endured various turmoil, similar to what Africa faces today.

He also briefed the ambassadors on the steps Angola took toward the preparation and holding of legislative elections on 5 September, regarded as free and fair by the national and international observers, underlining that the country is engaged "in the construction of a dynamic, tolerant, inclusive, solidarity and prosperous society".

The four year-term of the ruling MPLA party will serve for strengthening of cooperation ties with partner countries, in more different domains, noted the Angolan officials, who mentioned the consolidation of democracy and respect for human fundamental rights as the priority of the current executive.
