Angola: Benedict XVI Brings Message of Comfort to Citizens

31 October 2008

Luanda — Superior nun of Teresian Sisters Congregation in Angola, Lúcia Geraldo, said this Friday in Luanda that Pope Benedict XVI will bring a message of peace and comfort for every Angolan.

In a short interview to ANGOP, during the announcement of the Pope's trip to Angola, scheduled for March 2009, the nun explained that this visit will also contribute to the increase of the commitment of catholics in the evangelisation process.

The Teresian Sisters Congregation exists in Angola since 1949 and will celebrate 60 years of missionary service in the country next year.

In Angola they are based in provinces like Luanda, Cabinda, Huambo, Kuando Kubango, Moxico and Huíla, in a total of 104 nuns.

Besides Angola, in Africa they also have congregations in Burkina Faso, Côte d'Ivoire, São Tomé and Mozambique.
