Uganda: Masaka Hospital Runs Out of Gloves

Masaka Regional Referral Hospital has run out of examination gloves.

The shortage has exposed medical workers to contagious diseases from patients because they attend to them with bare hands.

"Our lives are in danger because we attend to patients who have skin diseases that are contagious," a nurse who spoke on condition of anonymity for fear of losing her job said.

The acting Medical Superintendent at the hospital Dr. Asuman Lukwago, said health workers are now using surgical gloves on general patients which are very expensive.
