Malanje — The representative of Angolan northern Cabinda province, Solange Nery, won on Saturday evening the 16th edition of the popular music festival "Variante 2008", in northern Malange, with 142 points.
With one point more than the second placed, Solange Nery received from the minister of Culture, Rosa Cruz e Silva, a diploma and a cheque for Usd 10,000.
Second place came Kwanza Sul candidate, Carlos Daniel "Cidy", with 141 points, who also got a diploma and a cheque for Usd 5,000, with the song "Mu Muennne".
The third position went for the representative of Huambo province, Avelina Mundombe, with 130 points and also received a diploma and a cheque for 3,000, with the song "Ndapandula".
Speaking to journalists at the end of the contest, Solange Nery thanked the support she got from the Cabinda public, pledging to work to elevate the name of Angola.
Solange Nery, 20, is a third year student of Social Sciences in Cabinda's Pre-university school.
The show that had as its guests Angolan Mito Gaspar and Ivorian Monique Seká, was witnessed by about 1000 people, with highlight to the minister of Culture and local Government officials.
