Southern Africa: Police General Inspector at SADC Troika Meeting

Luanda — The general inspector of the National Police, Salvador Rodrigues "Dodo", left the country this Sunday for Maputo city, Mozambique, where he will take part until next Thursday in the preparatory meeting of the troika of SADC ministers for defence and security.

The troika, comprising Angola, Swaziland and Mozambique, will meet next Thursday to debate concerning the state of the region, with emphasis to the Great Lakes.

Speaking to ANGOP at "4 de Fevereiro" International Airport, Salvador Rodrigues said that the meeting will discuss about security along Angolan borders, the conflicts in the region, particularly in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), among others issues.

According to the source, the troika will decide and create strategies meant to avoid the spreading of conflicts in others Southern African states.

The Southern African Development Community (SADC) is an economic bloc comprising countries such as South Africa, Angola, Botswana, DRC, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Swaziland, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
